Life Cycle Assessment, LCA, is a technique aimed at understanding and evaluating the magnitude and significance of a potential environmental impact of a product throughout its entire lifecycle, from cradle to grave (i.e. from raw material extraction through materials processing, manufacture, packaging, distribution and storage, consumer use, disposal and recycling). The LCA is a phased approach that consists of several components, which include but are not limited to:
• Inventory Analysis (see LCI)
• Impact Assessment (see LCIA)
• Interpretation (evaluation of results of LCI and LCIA to select the preferred product, process or service)
