The Committee for Risk Assessment (RAC), which draws up ECHA’s opinions related to the risks of substances to human health and the environment in the REACH and CLP processes, has published on ECHA website the harmonised classifications that have been proposed for the following substances:

  • α,α'-propylenedinitrilodi-o-cresol (EC 202-374-2, CAS 94-91-7): Netherlands have proposed the following harmonised classification: 1B, H360FD;
  • rape oil (EC 232-299-0, CAS 8002-13-9);
  • methacrylic acid, monoester with propane-1,2-diol (EC 248-666-3, CAS 27813-02-1): France has proposed the following harmonised classification: Eye Irrit. 2, H319, Resp. Sens. 1, H334, Skin Sens. 1, H317, STOT SE 3, H335.

Harmonised classification: public consultation

Public consultation has been opened by the ECHA for ethanethiol; ethyl mercaptan (EC 200-837-3, CAS 75-08-1), N,N'-methylenediacrylamide (EC 203-750-9, CAS 110-26-9) and 1,4-dichloro-2-nitrobenzene (EC 201-923-3, CAS 89-61-2) regarding their classification.

  • ethanethiol; ethyl mercaptan is included in Annex VI of CLP with the following harmonised classification: Liq. 2, H225; Acute Tox. 4, H332; Aquatic Acute 1, H400 and Aquatic Chronic 1, H410. Austria has proposed the following harmonised classification: Flam. Liq. 1, H224; Acute Tox. 4 H302 with an ATE of 680 mg/kg bw; Acute Tox. 3 H331 with an ATE of inhalation of vapours of 7.14 mg/L; Aquatic Acute 1, H400 and Aquatic Chronic 1, H410.
  • N,N'-methylenediacrylamide: Sweden has proposed to include this substance in Annex VI with the following harmonised classification: 1B, H340.
  • 1,4-dichloro-2-nitrobenzene: Netherlands has proposed to include this substance in Annex VI with the following harmonised classification: 1B, H350.

ECHA invites all interested parties to provide comments regarding the hazard classes proposed. This public consultation will end on February 11th, 2022.

Furthermore, ECHA is looking for further information on hexyl salicylate (EC 228-408-6, CAS 6259-76-3) to clarify the rate and relevance of hexyl salicylate hydrolysis for oral exposure. The deadline for comments is January 7th, 2022.
