Proposals and news on harmonised CLP classifications

Harmonised classification: substance proposals

Harmonised classification: substance proposalsThe Committee for Risk Assessment (RAC), which draws up ECHA’s opinions related to the risks of substances to human health and the environment in the REACH and CLP processes, has published on ECHA website the harmonised classifications and related dossier that have been proposed for the following substances:

  • 2,4,6-tri-tert-butylphenol (EC 211-989-5, CAS 732-26-3): Belgium has proposed the following harmonised classification: Acute Tox. 4, H302, ATE = 500 mg/kg bw; Skin Sens. 1B, H317; STOT RE 2, H373. Moreover, RAC proposed that the substance should be also classified as Repr. 1B, H360D.
  • Methyl methacrylate (EC 201-297-1, CAS 80-62-6): France proposed to classify the substance as Resp. Sens. 1, H334 in addition to the existing classification.
  • Ammonium bromide (EC 235-183-8, CAS 12124-97-9): Sweden proposed the following hamonised classification: Eye Irrit. 2, H319; Repr. 1B, H360FD; Lact., H362; STOT SE 3, H336. RAC has also proposed to add STOT RE 1, H372 to the classification of the substance.
  • 4,4’-isopropylidenediphenol (Bisphenol A) (EC 201-245-8, CAS 80-05-7): Germany proposed to classify Bisphenol A also as very toxic to aquatic life (Aquatic Acute 1; H400, M=1) and very toxic to aquatic life with long lasting effects (Aquatic Chronic 1; H410, M=10).

Harmonised classification: intentions of proposal

There are new intentions of proposal regarding harmonised classification and labelling for the following substances:

  • Silver (EC 231-131-3, CAS 7440-22-4);
  • Benzyl alcohol (EC 202-859-9, CAS 100-51-6);
  • Hydrogen sulphide (EC 231-977-3, CAS 7783-06-4).

 The proposed classifications will be evaluated by the Committee for Risk Assessment (RAC)
