Federal Commission for the Protection against Sanitary Risk (COFEPRIS)published new amendments for the “Agreement that determines additives and adjuvants in food, beverages and food supplements, their use and health standards – DOF 16/07/12” were published on September 20, 2016. The additions listed below of new substances and/or functions for existing substances published in this amendment have previously been approved by the Secretary of Health.
Mono- and diacetyl tartaric acid esters of mono- and diglycerides of fatty acids has specific limits as emulsifier and stabilizer in cream substitutes, hard and soft candies and other confectionary products.
For Propyl gallate, as antioxidant, respective limits were assigned for some confectionary products, herbs, spices and seasonings.
The group Sorbates was approvedto be used as preservative in cream substitutes, sauces, herbs, spices, dressings, seasonings and condiments.
