On July 2nd, Centre for Food Safety (CFS) of Hong Kong published a new guideline on food classification for the pesticide residues in food regulation (Cap.132CM, July 2015, revised version). In this guideline, foods are classified into 5 categories: fruits, vegetables, grasses, nuts and seeds, herbs and spices. This guideline refers to CODEX Alimentarius Food and Animal Feed Classification (CAC/MISC 4) and adds Hong Kong local food, so it gets more applicable to Hong Kong.
In addition, this guideline introduces the use of food classification list and risk assessment process. Meanwhile, it revises the previous version, including removing two Chinese definitions of Lettuce leaf and changing the Chinese definition of Plantain leaves.
