New Amendments for Canada Food Additives

The 21st of May 2015 and the 28th of May 2015 to ensure a better food safety, Health Canada published two notices of modification to the list of permitted food additives.

The first is a Notice of Modification to the List of Permitted Food Enzymes to Enable the Use of the Enzyme Asparaginase, from Bacillus subtilis MOL2940, in Bread, Flour, Whole Wheat Flour, Unstandardized Foods and Green Coffee.

The second is a Notice of Modification to the List of Permitted Colouring Agents to Enable the Use of Potassium Aluminum Silicate-Based Iron Oxide, Potassium Aluminum Silicate-Based Titanium Dioxide, and Potassium Aluminum Silicate-Based Titanium Dioxide and Iron Oxide, as Colouring Agents, in Certain Unstandardized Foods.
