Canada Establishes New Maximum Residue Limits for Pesticides and Additives in Various Foods

On October 21 and 22, 2020, Health Canada has issued new regulatory updates related to food pesticides and food additives:

The evaluation of the technical grade MCPA applications indicated that the end-use products have value and the human health and environmental risks associated with the new uses are acceptable.

The established PMRL’s come into effect from October 21,2020.

Allows the use of enzyme in “unstandardized fruit and vegetable products” includes fruit or vegetable purées and pomaces, as well as unstandardized fruit nectars (i.e., fruit nectars made from fruits other than apricot, peach, or pear).

The food enzyme is intended to be used at a level consistent with Good Manufacturing Practice.

The regulation comes into effect from October 22, 2020.
