Canada Publishes Maximum Residue Limits for Pesticides Pyrethrins in Fruits

On January 18, 2021, Health Canada’s Pest Management Regulatory Agency (PMRA) has published “Maximum Residue Limits for Pesticides Pyrethrins PMRL2020-35” under the authority of the Pest Control Products Act.

The following focal points summarize the scope of the document:

  • Addition of new uses on various commodities to the product label of PyGanic Crop Protection EC 1.4 II, containing technical grade Pyrethrins, is acceptable.
  • Established MRL’s for Blueberries i.e., Lowbush blueberries and Highbush Blueberries is set at 1.0ppm and the Low growing berries have been set at 0.15ppm.
  • The evaluation of this Pyrethrins application indicated that the end-use product has value and the human health and environmental risks associated with the new uses are acceptable.

The Regulation for the pesticide pyrethrin is effective from January 18, 2021.
