China Issues Notice Publication of 50 National Food Safety Standards and 4 Amendments

On March 18, 2021, the Food Safety Law of the People's Republic of China in consultation and approval by the National Food Safety Standards Review Committee has published 50 national food safety standards and 4 amendments, as the "National Standard Cheese for Food Safety" (GB5420-2021)”.

The document lists out various standards published. A selection is available below:

  • GB5420-2021 National Standard Cheese for Food Safety
  • GB10765-2021 National Standard Infant Formula for Food Safety
  • GB10766-2021 Food Safety National Standard Larger Infant Formula
  • GB31654-2021 General Health Code for Food and Beverage Services

In addition to the above, standards on food additives, test methods for food contact materials and established maximum levels of contaminants are set out. The aim is to promote the healthy development of the industry and ensure the safety and hygiene of such products, to meet consumers requirements.

The standards are in force from March 18, 2021.
