EFSA Modifies Maximum Residue Limits for Folpet in Cereal Products

On May 06, 2021, the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) scientific opinions issued regulation on pesticides in accordance with Article 6 of Regulation (EC) No 396/2005 on “Modification of the existing maximum residue levels for folpet in barley, oat, rye and wheat”.

The regulation highlights use levels of pesticides on crops as follows:

  • Adequate analytical methods for enforcement are available to control the residues of folpet in dry commodities.
  • The limit of quantification (LOQ) of 0.01 mg/kg has been set for the respective products.
  • Maximum residue limits for barley and oat has been set at 2 mg/kg and wheat and rye has been set at 0.3 mg/kg.
  • No risk associated with short‐term and long‐term intake of residues resulting from the use of folpet according to the reported agricultural practices is unlikely to present a risk to consumer health

The regulation is effective from May 06, 2021.
