EU Adopts Two New Amendments To Vet Drugs Legislation

On April 3 and 4 2018, the EU parliament adopted two Implementing Regulations that are amending Commission Regulation (EU) No 37/2010 on pharmacologically active substances and their classification regarding maximum residue limits in foodstuffs of animal origin.

The first amendment Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2018/520, was published on April 3, 2018, and inserts one new substance ’Solvent naphtha’ applicable to All Food Producing Species with no MRL required.

The second amendment Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2018/523 was added for the substance Fluazuron. New categories such as All Ruminants except Bovine, Ovine, and Fin Fish. Fluazuron is now banned for use in animals from which milk is produced for human consumption in the category ’All Ruminants except Bovine and Ovine’.
