EU Reviews the existing Maximum Residue Levels for Pesticide Isoxaben

Trace One_Canada-MRL-July-2020-1On January 17th, 2022, the European Food Safety Authority published the article on “Review of the existing maximum residue levels for Isoxaben according to Article 12 of Regulation (EC) No 396/2005”.

 

The scope of the safety assessment summarizes the following:

  • To assess the occurrence of Isoxaben residues in plants, processed commodities, rotational crops, and livestock;
  • The maximum levels proposed in certain fruits from 0.02 mg/kg to 0.01 mg/kg, also certain nuts and cereals were proposed from the existing 0.05 mg/kg to 0.01 mg/kg;
  • Consumer risk assessment indicated no apparent risk to consumers on the consumption of these products;
  • Residues in all commodities were found to be below 0.1 mg/kg and the total theoretical maximum daily intake was observed at 10% of the ADI;
  • Information related to the regulatory framework and MRLs proposed still requires further investigation.
