EU Reviews the Maximum Residue Levels for Fosetyl, Disodium Phosphonate and Potassium Phosphonates

On August 25th, 2021, the European Food Safety Authority reviewed the maximum residue levels (MRLs) for fosetyl and phosphonates in or on food and feed in accordance with Article 43 of Regulation (EC) No 396/2005.

The scope of the scientific document is:

  • To assess the MRL’s of Fosetyl, Disodium phosphonate, and Potassium phosphonates currently established at EU level;
  • To evaluate the occurrence of fosetyl, potassium phosphonates, and disodium phosphonate residues in plants, processed commodities, rotational crops, and livestock;
  • To support the residue data and conclusion for the established MRL within the framework of Regulation (EC) No 1107/2009;
  • The consumer assessment based on available MRL data, no apparent health risk to consumers was identified through some information required by the regulatory framework was missing;
  • The consumer risk assessment is considered indicative only and some MRL proposals derived require further consideration by risk managers.
