European Union (EU) Latest Recalls Affecting Multiple Food Commodities

On April 23, 2019, the European Union (EU) Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed (RASFF) released multiple food alerts on various food commodities:

  • Hulled sesame seeds from India, via Turkey, recalled for improper health certificate(s) as notified in the recalls 1503, 2019.1504 and 2019.1505;
  • Peppers from Turkey, where the presence of acetamiprid (2019.1501), formetanate (2019.1506, 2019.1512) and omeothoate (2019.1513) was revealed;
  • Peanuts with shell from Egypt contaminated by aflatoxins (2019.1507);
  • Chilled pork ham from Poland containing unacceptable levels of benzo(a)pyrene and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (2019.1509).
