European Union (EU) New Food Alerts Affecting Food Commodities – October 2019

On October 22, 2019, the European Union (EU) Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed (RASFF) has recalled multiple food products due to contamination.

Among others, the following agents have been identified:

  • Mercury in frozen blue marlin loins from Portugal (2019.3649) and frozen yellow fin tuna slices from Spain (2019.3654);
  • Salmonella in frozen turkey breast from Poland, packaged in the Czech Republic (2019.3650), and chilled mechanically separated chicken meat from Belgium (2019.3651);
  • Acetamiprid in peppers from Turkey, as notified in 2019.3647.
