European Union (EU) Releases New Food Alerts and Recalls in April 2019

European Union draft regulation on labeling

On April 15, 2019, the European Union (EU) Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed (RASFF) released new food alerts and recalls.

Notifications involve the following food commodities:

  • Frozen cuttlefish (Sepia pharaonis) from India that revealed the presence of cadmium, as reported in notifications 2019.1415;
  • Gluten-free pasta from Poland containing too high levels of gluten. Notification link can be found here;
  • Salmonella enterica ser. Bredeney found in lamb meat meal from the Netherlands and in organic mussels (Mytilus galloprovincialis) from Italy, packaged in France, as reported in notifications 2019.1418  and 2019.1419.
