On October 06th, 2022, the Federal Register of Legislation published a standard on the "Australia New Zealand Food Standards Code-Standard 1.3.3-Processing aids” under the Food Standards Australia New Zealand Act 1991.
The document highlights the following key points:
- The standard provides references to substances that are used as processing aids;
- Allows use of substance no more than the maximum level to achieve technological purposes under conditions of GMP;
- Includes Processing aids that may be used with any foods as listed in the standard;
- Specifies use of processing aids as microbial control agents, antimicrobial control agents, for use in the manufacture of packaged water, etc.
The regulation is effective September 01st, 2022.
