GSO Issues Standards on Maximum Levels of Pesticides Residues in Agricultural and Food Products

On October 28th, 2021, the Saudi Food and Drug Authority published the draft standards on GSO TC 05/DS/2021Maximum Levels of Pesticides Residues in Agricultural and Food Products”.

The scope of the draft standard requirement is highlighted below:

  • The GSO regulation 382/2020 (Maximum Levels of Pesticides Residues in Agricultural and Food Products) was prepared within the work program of Gulf technical committee No. TC05/SC02 (For Specification of Additives and Contaminants) provided that this regulation cancels GSO 382/2019;
  • Pesticides are allowed to be used in the Products listed in the table of the regulation and must not exceed the maximum residue limits (MRLs);
  • The unit of measurement of the pesticides used on the food commodity is provided in mg/kg;
  • Sampling is taken in accordance with the standards specification approved by the Authorities.

 

The draft is open for public consultation period until December 28th, 2021.
