India Proposes Amendments to Food Safety and Standards Regulations, 2019

On May 3 and 5, 2019, the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India published new drafts to amend the Food Safety and Standards Regulations:

  • “Food Safety and Standards (Food Products Standards and Food Additives) Amendment Regulation, 2019 amend regulations related to inclusion on sorbitan monostearate for use in various food categories including yeast and like products and microbiological requirements for spices and herbs“, check the full text here;
  • “Notification of Food Safety and Standards (Food Products Standards and Food Additives) Amendment Regulations, 2019 related to formulation of new standards for „low lactose“/“lactose free“ milk and dairy permeate powder and definition of mozzarella cheese“ , full text available here;
