Singapore Publishes Food (Amendment) Regulations 2022

Trace One_singapore-establishes-maximum-residues-limits-for-a-veterinary-drug-in-shell-eggsOn July 26th, 2022, the Singapore Food Agency issued a regulation under section 56(1) of the Sale of Food Act 1973 “Food (Amendment) Regulation 2022”.

 

The following changes to the regulation include:

  • Introduction to regulation 27A on Pathogen reduction treatment to reduce food’s microbial load;
  • Amendment to regulation 29 (1) replacing “or gaseous packaging agent” with “, gaseous packaging agent or pathogen reduction treatment”;
  • Amendment to regulation 64 (1A) on chopped or minced meat that may contain pathogen reduction treatment in accordance with regulation 27A (3) and the Seventeenth Schedule;
  • Addition of the New Seventeenth schedule on Pathogen reduction treatments in meat and their maximum permitted levels.

All food business operators must comply with the regulation effective July 30th, 2022.
