On March 19, 2019, the World Trade Organization (WTO) notified the publication of the Draft MOPH Notification, B.E, entitled "Requirements and Conditions for the Term "Premium" on Food Labels."
The Ministry of Public Health (MOPH) is proposing to repeal the notifications “Displaying of the Term "Premium" on Food Labels” and “Displaying of the Term "Premium" on Food labels of Pasteurized Cows’ Milk and Pasteurized Full Fat Cows' Milk.“
The aim of the document is to ensure that food labelled “Premium“ on the label will comply with the relevant notifications of the Ministry of Public Health regarding the following:
- Quality and standards;
- Production methods, equiptments and storages;
- Organic certification, Geographical Indication (GI);
- Specific characteristic of products superior to the same food type, as requirements prescribed in the Announcement of the Food and Drug Administration according to an approval of the Food Committee.
Comments are accepted up until 60 days from the publication of the notification.
