On July 29th, 2022, the U.S Federal Register published an article by the U.S Environmental Protection Agency on “Isofetamid; Pesticide Tolerances, 40 CFR 180.681, 87 FR 45665, 29 July 2022”.
The scientific document proposes the following changes:

  • The regulation establishes tolerances for residues of Isofetamid in or on multiple food commodities;
  • Pesticide tolerances were set on Yam bean, African, dry seed at 0.04 ppm; Bean, sword, edible-podded at 0.6 ppm; Soybean, vegetable, dry seed at 0.04 ppm, etc.;
  • New tolerance limits were established for the existing food commodities such as on vegetables, legumes, edible-podded, subgroup 6A, subgroup 6B, and subgroup 6C;
  • Risk assessment data ensures that the safety of infants and the general population is adequately protected;
  • Short‐term, intermediate-term, and chronic exposures to residues resulting from the tolerance of these food products are unlikely to pose a health risk to consumers.

The regulation is effective July 29th, 2022.
