US Establishes the Maximum Residue Limits for Pesticide Fluopyram

On February 18th, 2022, the U.S Federal Register published an article by the U.S Environmental Protection Agency on “Fluopyram; Pesticide Tolerances, 40 CFR 180.661, 87 FR 9245”.

 

The scope of the document summarizes the following:

  • The regulation amends the tolerances in or on cereal grain crop group 15 (except corn and rice), rapeseed subgroup 20A, and multiple animal commodities;
  • Establishes an import tolerance for residues of Fluopyram in or on coffee;
  • Tolerance is established for residues of Fluopyram, in or on coffee, green beans at 0.03 ppm;
  • Existing tolerances are amended for grain, cereal, group 15, except corn and rice at 0.5 ppm; rapeseed subgroup 20A at 0.3 ppm; cattle, fat at 0.3 ppm, etc.;
  • The established tolerances are amended for rice at 4.0 ppm; cattle, fat at 0.70 ppm; cattle, meat at 0.80 ppm; meat byproducts at 7.5 ppm; egg at 0.08 ppm, etc.;
  • Risk assessment data ensures the safety of infants and the general population is adequately protected based on the toxicological profile and dietary exposure;
  • Short‐term and long‐term intake of residues resulting from the use of tolerance on these food products is unlikely to pose a health risk to consumers.

The regulation is effective from February 18th, 2022.
