US Issues Exemption on the Requirement of Tolerance for Pesticides Eugenol

On September 16th, 2022, the U.S Federal Register published an article by the U.S Environmental Protection Agency on “Eugenol; Exemption from the Requirement of a Tolerance, 40 CFR 180.1395, 87 FR 56895” under the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act (FFDCA).

The scientific document highlights the following points:

 

  • The regulation establishes an exemption from the requirement of a tolerance for residues in or on all food commodities;
  • The commodities shall meet the requirements under the Good Agricultural Practices;
  • Dietary exposure and toxicological profile of Eugenol demonstrate low toxicity with no adverse effects and are safe in the general population, infants, and children.

This regulation is effective from September 16th, 2022.
